Manshia Palace has been ranked #1 of 10 things to do in Kumasi on Tripadvisor. And is surely one of the must-visit places in Ghana.
The palace is a representation of the beautiful heritage and culture of the Ashanti Kingdom. The name Manshia (Oman-shia) means the gathering place of the people.
A visit to the Manshia Palace would make you appreciate the beauty of our ancient cultures. And how our forefathers who lived before the era of colonization ruled, worshipped, and lived their lives.

The park is Ghana’s largest wildlife refuge. My favorite part is the safari. And the best part is watching elephants bathing. You simply can’t watch without picking your camera.

Kakum National Park
Kakum National Park is an estate to unique rainforest animals and plants.
The most exciting part of the park is the canopy walkway. Imagine walking in a dense forest that only has about 20% of light penetration.
And then after climbing a few hills and seeing the forest from below, you get to walk on a suspended bridge that gives you the opportunity to look at the aerial view of the forest from the canopy level. It’s so beautiful.
My tip is this; arrange to sleep in a treehouse so that you can do an early morning hike and watch sunrise from the canopy walkway. I bet you’ll appreciate the beauty of life.
Kintampo Waterfalls
Kintampo waterfalls is one of Ghana’s most fascinating sites. The waterfalls is about 80metres high and has three beautiful drops before finally hitting the bedrock.
And guess what, canopy walkway has just been built over the waterfalls. And that means you get the chance to look at the amazing waterfall from various angles.
Please take your swimming suits along. Because even if you plan not to touch the water, you might still end up swimming, or at least, having the water sprinkle on you a bit.

Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary
One of my favorites among the top 10 things to do in Ghana is the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary.
The tropical forest sanctuary is a traditional sacred grove that serves as home to two main monkeys; the mona and the patas monkeys.
And it is also home to many amazing butterfly species.
But the most fascinating part is the story behind the monkeys as they are considered to be the messengers to the gods. The real story will surely make you open your mouth.
And you’ll be so proud that you travelled to this wonderful part of the world.
Bonus: Attend a Festival Celebration
If you ever get the chance to witness a festival in Ghana, you’ll love every bit of it.
Ghana is full of unique but fascinating cultures. And the most sacred parts of the culture are exposed during a festival celebration.
It is advisable though to attend festivals with a local guide (arrange for one).
Why? Because if you break little taboos such as crossing a King carried in palanquin, it can lead to some embarrassment in some communities.
And more so, having a local guide who understands the culture and can interpret it well, would be an added advantage.
